Support Us in Your Will

Actors’ Trust is indebted to those who have left legacies to us over the years – their support has meant we’ve been able to help thousands of people. A legacy is a very special way to ensure our doors are always open for actors and those in stage management who need our support.

When planning for the future, it’s important to think about how you can support the causes most dear to you through a gift in your will.

Actors’ Trust Legacy Gifts

Leaving a gift in your will enables us to continue to support actors and stage managers through life’s challenges: it is a wonderful way to ensure that your kindness supports future generations. Your gift helps make life better for actors and stage managers.

How to leave a gift in your will

We recommend that your will is drafted by a solicitor as they are qualified professionals who can guide you through the process.

It can also be an effective way to reduce the tax burden of your estate.

What kind of gift can I leave to the Actors' Trust?

There are five main types of gift you can leave in your will:

A residuary gift
The whole (or a specific portion or percentage) of an estate left over after making other specified legacies (typically to benefit family members, friends and other charitable causes). This type of legacy is the most valuable, as its value is unaffected by inflation.

A reversionary gift
This involves leaving assets to a named beneficiary (for example, your spouse) or beneficiaries for them to enjoy in their lifetime; on their death, the whole or specified proportion reverts to the Actors’ Trust.

A pecuniary gift
The gift of a specific sum of money. The value of this type of legacy will decrease over time, however, it is possible to Index-Link the sum of money in order to preserve its value despite inflation. Your solicitor will be able to advise you on what wording to use to achieve this.

A specific gift
The gift of a specific item which might be used by the charity, either in its original format (for example – fine art, collection items) or that could be sold and any proceeds used to support the charity (for example – property, land, shares, or financial products such as life insurances and pensions).

Royalties
Each year, we receive royalties from people who remember us in their will. Royalties can be shared amongst more than one recipient.

A legacy is a special way for you to be remembered. Your kindness and generosity lives on through helping others. A legacy gives security and stability to others through difficult times.

If you’re thinking of leaving a legacy gift to Actors’ Trust, please contact us for further information. A gift of any size can make a real difference to someone and will be gratefully received.

Thank you.
