This is why we have introduced a School Essentials Grant for Summer 2026. Actors and stage management can apply for a one-off grant to help with these costs and make the summer period a little bit easier.
Who Can Apply
To ensure we support as many people as possible we will prioritise applications from actors and stage managers who have not received support from Actors’ Trust in the past 12 months.
Financial assistance with school uniforms costs may be available from your local council. You can find out more here – Financial Help for School Uniforms.
Before applying for our School Essentials Grant please check if support is available from your local authority, and if it is please apply for that first. This helps us to provide support where it is not available from other sources.
To be eligible for the School Essentials Grant, you must be an actor or stage manager who:
Have one or more children of school age

You can apply for a one-off grant to assist with any school related costs, or childcare-related expenses over the summer holidays. We assess all applications individually, so if your application is successful the level of the grant you receive will depend on your financial situation and the number of school-age dependents in your household.
To reach as many actors and stage managers as possible, this grant is intended for people who are not currently receiving financial support from Actors’ Trust. If you are currently receiving support from us, please keep in touch with the team and we will be pleased to look at what other support we can offer you.
You can apply for the grant now. We are expecting a high number of applications and will close applications once we receive the number we are able to support, so we encourage you to apply as soon as possible. Updates will be shared on this page and our social media channels.
