If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, please see the emergency help section below.

Mental Health Resources for Arts Professionals

The arts industry can be very demanding, and it’s important to know where to turn for support. These are organisations dedicated to mental health for people working in the arts:

  • BAPAM: Provides medical advice and support to performing arts professionals and students for their physical and mental health.
  • Wellbeing in the Arts: Offers mental health support through counselling, coaching, workshops, and training for individuals and organisations in the creative industries.
  • Industry Minds: Is a mental health charity for the creative arts, providing counselling, support services, seminars, training, and a podcast to break the stigma around mental illness.
  • Applause for Thought: A community interest company facilitating free and low-cost mental health support, talks, courses, and consultancy for the arts, emphasising education as prevention.

Our Podcast

In 2022, Equity found that those working in the arts were twice as likely to suffer from depression than the general population1. Similarly, The Film and TV Charity found that nearly two thirds of off-screen professionals have faced mental health issues related to their work2. Our podcast harnesses the wisdom of our community to help you stay healthy and happy.

The Actor’s Trust Podcast is available on Apple PodcastsSpotifyAudible and YouTube (with subtitles).
