Why Support Actors’ Trust?
Have you ever found comfort in your favourite sitcom or been moved by a powerful performance? Our industry offers the rare opportunity to see the world differently. At Actors’ Trust, we believe actors and stage management make a vital contribution to our society and culture.
It’s a challenging industry — with irregular work, physically and emotionally taxing roles, and no safety net in the event of injury or illness. Research has shown a significant increase in mental health struggles and financial insecurity in our society, particularly due to the rising cost of living and cuts to arts funding.
The barriers to entering the profession are growing, especially for those from less privileged backgrounds or minority groups.
Our support is needed now more than ever. That’s why our new strategy, ‘Acting for Impact‘, outlines our commitment to helping many more actors and stage management to deliver meaningful and sustainable change.
In 2024, we spent £2.37m on charitable activities, up from £2.1m in 2023, reflecting the increasing level of difficulty actors and stage management experience, and demonstrating our resolve to do more to help. Last year, we helped over 500 individuals and families to receive support.
